Lynn Hartmuth has been the Director of Cincinnati Sound Chorus since its inception in early 2007 and brings to us her many years of experience in the world of barbershop. Her parents were very active members of the local championship choruses, which explains why she joined a Sweet Adeline chorus at age 15. Lynn also added more music and performances to her life as a singer in her dad's dance band which also included some barbershop singers.
Lynn attended Murray State University as a Music Education and Math major. She has been awarded numerous Top 5 medals as a chorus and quartet singer. At the International Harmony Classic Division A competition, Lynn's direction of Queen City Chorus won her the title of “Master Director” in 2004. With the merge of two Cincinnati choruses - Seven Hills and Queen City - forming Cincinnati Sound, came the regional chorus championship.
Her knowledge and experience with the barbershop art form has kept her busy as a member of Harmony Heartland Region #4 Education Faculty for 50 years (1969-2019) and Education Coordinator for 7 of those years.
Lynn credits her knowledge of barbershop to family barbershop roots and a host of mentors.
Cincinnati Sound Chorus counts itself very fortunate to have Lynn as our Chorus Director.
